My Name is Melita Janis, I am a Headstart Teacher at the Wakapamni Headstart
We are a multi-age classroom for 3-5 year olds. I started out in the Early Childhood when I became a Day Care Aide for the first licenced childcare on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I found that working with young children to be my calling. I started to work with Headstart programs in 2000. I first worked at BadLands Headstart as a Home Visitor for the Porcupine Area.Then became the Teacher at the Wakpamni Headstart teacher after my son was born I have continued to work there today.
I am working on my Bachlors degree in Early Childhood, and will Graduate December of 2011.
